Addiction- What problem could it be?

Drug or alcohol addiction leads one down the path of death or destruction. For those family members with drug or Alcohol addict in the family it’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

Teenagers often become victims of substance abuse Addiction, whether alcohol or other drugs such as marijuana, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine while just trying to have a good time. Substance abuse addiction and the drugs of abuse are dependent upon the geographic location with popularity ranging on availability of the drug.

Alcohol addiction is the number one problem as alcohol is legal and the number one killer among substances abused. Alcohol abuse and addiction kills over 450,000 people each year through various means. This death toll does not include the long term affect of alcohol addiction such as liver failure, heart problems, high blood pressure etc. Alcohol addiction often stems from the abuse of alcohol to the point it completely altars the way the brain functions causing the person to constantly crave the substance, leads to depression and with the nutritional deficiencies created, anxiety. Alcohol abuse usually begins at an early age and subsequently increases the likelihood of addiction later in life.

Drug Addiction often begins with alcohol and marijuana abuse which lower a persons fear of any negative consequences of harder drugs. Often times with those suffering from addiction to drugs like cocaine, methamphetamine and other stimulants start out abusing alcohol and realize these type drugs can provide a sobering feeling and heightened awareness while intoxicated from the alcohol. This leads to the consumption of more alcohol and the use of more stimulants, thereby promulgating the complexity of the issue and leading one further down the path of addiction.

Cocaine addiction can cause paranoia, depression, loss of appetite, insomnia and a host of nutritional deficiencies that can contribute the exhibition of psychiatric disorders; the mimicked psychiatric disorder then leads to the prescribing of more meds that often lead to addiction as well.

Methamphetamine addiction causes paranoia, insomnia and loss of appetite. The aforementioned maladies cause mimicking of psychiatric disorders which then, as does cocaine, leads to a psychiatric diagnosis and more prescription medications. This form of Treatment is so far off the mark its unfathomable. This is evident if one looks at the success of treating these addictions with this methodology. Many women are attracted to methamphetamine as a means to lose weight, and in fact many appetite suppressants contain amphetamines if not methamphetamines.

Opiate addiction is altogether an animal of a different colour. Those who abuse powerful opiate painkillers just a few times have a high likely hood of addiction. Opiates drugs of addiction would include heroin, oxycontin, percaset, vicodin and methadone. 4 our of 5 of the drugs mentioned above are prescription drugs and if you consider heroin was at one time prescribed then five out five drugs are or were prescription drugs. Addiction to prescription drugs is second only to alcohol and kills more people every year than all other drugs combined.

Withdrawal from opiate addiction can cause symptoms that include vomiting, abdominal cramps and muscle aches, said Dr. Ivan Montoya, acting deputy director of Pharmacotherapy and Medical Consequences of Drug Abuse for the National Institute on Drug Abuse, based in Rockville, Md.
Their severity depends on the level of addiction. Most addicts tolerate withdrawal symptoms, but death can result in extreme cases, Montoya said. Addicts with other medical conditions or severe dehydration are more vulnerable.

Numerous drug addiction deaths have been associated with the withdrawal of opiates, specifically highly addictive drugs such as methadone, suboxone or benzodiazepines such as xanax or klonopin which or highly popular as means to treat drug addicts suffering from anxiety and depression..
Addiction begins with a lack of education about the various substances with those that profit taking complete advantage and often misleading the public. These addiction profiteers don’t worry with cleaning up the mess since most drug or alcohol addictions result, mistakenly in a diagnosis of a psychiatric disorder that then leads being placed on disability and a life of enslavement to more medications. These “substance abuse treatments” are then picked up at the expense of John Q taxpayer.
