Drug recovery centers really speak volumes at the type of help you would actually get just by definition alone. Even the term drug addiction treatment signifies a continued action with no real goal in mind. I mean if a drug recovery center were to focus on rehabilitation, which would mean restoring someone to their former condition, it would specify the action taking place by the simple meaning of the word.

Take heroin addiction for instance, if someone were to enter a typical drug recovery center trying to withdraw from heroin, they wouldn’t withdraw from heroin, they would be put on a replacement drug called suboxone or methadone and sent on their way. No real rehabilitation occurring. 

Don’t get me wrong, drug recovery centers can be of benefit to a degree, possibly reducing the crime rate or giving someone who is in constant pain an opportunity to support their family and get off street drugs. But I don’t agree with these kinds of drug treatment centers because the addiction is perpetuated and not really confronted.

I mean take a guy who has been using heroin and just so happens to have been keeping his job and supporting his family, and wants to stop. Drug recovery centers should be able to take this guy, move him away from the heroin and realistically have him off of any kind of drug in a few weeks. But that’s not the way this brand of drug addiction treatment works, these drug recovery centers makes several hundred dollars a month off of these addicts and wait until the addict is ready to step down off of the drug themselves, well guess what, a heroin addict is deathly afraid of going through withdrawal and its hard to confront and not usually going to happen. 

Addiction treatment centers that treat heroin addiction specifically should approach addiction treatment with a natural approach which helps the addict feel better physically and reduce the need to take any drugs. These kinds of drug programs improve the abilities of the addict, self esteem which increases the addicts self determinism to handle his problems.

I work with addiction treatment centers all over the country that use this approach and have much higher success rates. The thing that I am seeing is more of these kinds of rug treatment centers are popping up all over the country in one form or another as people are starting to see the benefits and success. There are addiction treatment centers out there that have the best interest of the addict in mind and can help you put addiction behind you for good.
