Long term drug addiction treatment recoveryPosted by Addiction Counselor in Untagged |
Permanent long term addiction treatment recovery has long been sought for years by many drug addicts and families or alcoholics. Many people have been looking for an addiction recovery center to continually attend as part of the process to reach this end.
Addiction recovery can be permanent and long term if the right addiction treatment program is sought at the outset. People have no clue about addiction, how it works much less how it started. Studies have shown about 5500 kids a day try drugs or alcohol. It’s also known an estimated 20% of these youth will become addicted. It seems as though if those that can determine the amount of potential addicts coming down the road; they could have a better of understanding of addiction and addiction recovery.
Long term drug treatment is a key component to permanent addiction recovery. Many people take it as an invalidation to their own ability to handle something that for so long been taken lightly with the attitude “I can always quit on my own”. This is coupled with the fact they’ve known all along they shouldn’t be participating in such behavior. This makes asking for help all the much harder, once people understand addiction and how they got stuck it seems to make things easier.
Many people looking for cocaine addiction treatment think all they need is a few days clean time and they should be all good. They soon find out reaching addiction recovery on a consistent and permanent level takes long term drug treatment that handles all facets of addiction.
Unfortunately the stigma of the traditional twelve step program has not led us to believe addiction recovery is reachable, only something that you continually strive for and may never reach. Some attending an addiction recovery center are informed that there is an underlying reason why a person is using drugs, and in fact there is, but you should know that reason is as much physical as it is mental believe it or not.
Of course those needing addiction treatment have underlying issues, but having a painful emotional background is not the reason most people start using drugs. People start abusing drugs and alcohol so solve some sort of problem. Could be to lose weight, gain energy or courage, be like friends or a plethora of issues that may be insignificant to most people.
This drug or alcohol abuse has physical effects on the body and brain that are directly tied to how a person thinks and feels. This influence causes the person to do things that go against his own moral beliefs and the mores of society. This leads to guilt and contributes to the lack of responsibility for his or her actions simply because it’s easier to blame someone else.
To achieve lasting addiction recovery a person must of course take responsibility for his or her actions but having the best success at doing so requires handling the chemical/toxic effects of drugs and alcohol at the beginning of addiction treatment. The removes the influence and helps create a sound foundation to work from. Once the person feels better physically he can then focus on underlying mental emotional problems.
People don’t really think of drugs as toxic and how the body handles toxins is to filter them out via the liver and kidneys which changes the toxic particle that bonds to and stores in the fat of a person body. These toxins, while stored continue to burn up much needed nutrients, which contribute to depression, anxiety, and mood swings, mimicking other psychiatric problems. As these toxins are released back into the bloodstream they travel up to the brain creating a craving for the drug and an alteration in the normal thought process.
A comprehensive long term drug treatment program will get rid of these toxins stored in the fat with a complete body detoxification program that will restore nutritional deficiencies and remove the possibility of any drug cravings.
Once this purification takes place, lasting long term addiction treatment recovery has a much higher chance of being reached on a permanent basis. Of course handling quilt and responsibility come later and again this just simply is not done a short term drug treatment program.
