So many people start out talking about and trying to explain the various aspects of overcoming substance abuse and addiction in an addiction center, substance abuse treatment or drug rehabilitation program. The choices of addiction centers and drug rehab referral sources are convoluted and often chaotic. Just ask any mother in desperate search of help for her beloved son or daughter who is suffering the trauma of addiction and who has failed addiction treatment has lost hope and in despair.
These parents and family members, most often mothers and sister in desperate search of help are looking for an explanation, when calling addiction counselors at this drug rehab referral helpline just need to bend an ear and vent. This alone is a therapeutic process and greatly aids the rehabilitation of the entire family.
An addiction counselor often has a tainted viewpoints when it comes to helping someone suffering drug or alcohol addiction and needing drug addiction treatment or an alcohol rehab center. Depending on the methodology employed at the addiction centers in question, many addiction counselors can assume an apathetic viewpoint and think there is no hope. Some addiction centers chant relapse is part of recovery and so it goes for the addict. Often those seeking substance abuse treatment have been mislead to the point finding a way out seems impossible and continue to do more of the same.
Often families of addicts having spent an exorbitant amount of money in helping the drug or alcohol addict and have been led astray, feels that anyone who actually wants to help end the cycle of addiction and achieve permanent addiction recovery is dishonest and deceitful. It’s as if help has become betrayal due to the past failures, lies and deceit from the substance abuse treatment and addiction centers.
An addiction center in dealing with drug addiction and substance abuse should make known all the influences drugs or alcohol have on the entire person, both mentally and physically and do all that is possible to build a strong foundation to work from to ensure addiction recovery is obtained.
It is up to family and friends of the drug addict or alcoholic to become aware of the best possible resources involving addiction treatment in an addiction center. In doing so understanding all of the components of addiction, physically, nutritionally and psychologically and greatly assist addiction recovery. The rest is up to the drug or alcohol addict.
Knowing you have done all you can do to help can at least set you at ease, or should anyway. That’s the goal we at AddictionWatch when helping families find substance abuse treatment in various addiction centers.
