If you don’t think its all about the money when it comes to prescription drugs and prescription drug addiction please think again. “Health care” giant Johnson and Johnson has allegedly been paying kickbacks to those who will push the powerful antipsychotic to the elderly. It’s so maddening to see these things happen right in front of our face and wonder how the hell we can victim to it. Do you have a loved one in a nursing home? And have ever gone to visit only to find your family incoherent and resting. Well get a clue its not because they are old, it’s the drugs they’re on and it’s called chemical restraint.
Federal prosecutors in New Jersey have filed suit against the moneymaking giant after two whistleblower cases were filed, one in 2003 by a former pharmacist who worked for Omnicare, the nations largest pharmaceutical supplier to nursing homes and a former Omnicare financial analyst.
This comes on the heels Johnson and Johnson heiress Casey Johnson, known for her prescription drug addiction, dropping dead suddenly. Johnson and Johnson were apparently getting the drug Risperdal pushed onto the nursing home public which is known to increase the risk of death in the elderly, and had in fact has a black box label warning.
Please take a look at the article published by the AP newswire at Star Tribune which describes the billions being paid for these drugs by the taxpayer via Medicaide.
Prescription drug addiction and death from prescription drugs is at an all time high and its being paid for by the taxpayer, to create the mess and to have the appearance of cleaning it up via drug rehab programs and healthcare, which by the way prescribe more drugs.
