Qualifying Alcohol AddictionPosted by addiction writer in Untagged |
|

Alcohol addiction is a tricky topic. There are so many people across the U.S. That consume alcohol on a regular or semi-regular basis whom consider themselves to not be addicted that drawing the line between alcohol addiction and non enslaved, casual use becomes extremely difficult.
For instance there are untold millions who drink wine with dinner or whom have a drink at a social gathering. For these folks, this alcohol consumption doesn't disrupt their life, they generally don't become intoxicated to the point of loss of control and in general they suffer little or no consequences of their alcohol usage.
On the other hand there are many more untold millions who drink to excess on a regular basis, become different people when they drink due to intoxication, do things under the influence that latter become a source of regret and shame, turn to alcohol when a problem or stressful situation arises as a “nerve relaxer” or coping mechanism and/or inflict their usage on others via personal abuse, neglect, vehicular accidents, crime etc.
It is not our goal to inflict some missionary pronunciation of evil on all who consume alcohol by any means but rather to provide the resources and information needed to those who either regularly or on occasion realize their drinking has gotten out of hand.
