Mother Of Justin Bieber Releases New Book About Her Struggles With Addiction
Larger-than-life pop star Justin Bieber has kept no secrets about his very humble beginnings. In his recent movie, fans learned about his family struggles and his early passion to become a star. He also praises the woman behind his success; his most powerful influence and strongest supporter, his mother.
Although to many, she may only be “Justin Bieber’s mother,” she has decided to come forward and make a name for herself. In her new book, she tells of her own early struggles in life, pre-Justin and in his younger years as an infant.
Pattie Mallette is no stranger to less-than optimum circumstances. In her tell-all book, “Nowhere but Up: The Story of Justin Bieber’s Mom,” she describes her own triumphs and struggles with pregnancy, abandonment, suicide and addiction.
Mallette writes that she was sexually abused multiple times throughout her life, until it became “commonplace.” She also says she drank and drugged herself to oblivion as a response to the tragedy happening in her life, and when she became pregnant with a son was thrown out of the house by her mother. Pattie’s drug and alcohol abuse began at the young age of 14, like so many millions of American teens today.
Neglect and sexual abuse are, not surprisingly, some of the leading causes thought to be linked to later-life drug and alcohol abuse today. Many studies have been conducted that support this; detained criminals and drug users who enroll in addiction treatment admit their traumatic childhood led them down a destructive path.
Hope for Bieber Family
Pattie hopes that by telling the world of her struggle that others can learn from and relate to her story.
Today Pattie has one of the most famous son’s in the world and has been able to face her demons and get the help she needed.
She also says that, in the process of baring her soul, it helped further her own healing process.
